In the modern world, as much as we would like to or refuse to admit it, there are still widespread opinions that certain jobs, sports, and even activities are intended primarily for men or women. For a good number of people, the first association of riding a PWC is precisely daring men who ride the waves, perform tricks, and race with the wind. But today we decided to show that jet skis are not only ridden by men, but we will deal with men who are absolute rulers in the world of PWCs - their successes and respectable results. Ultimately, riding a jet ski is intended for all lovers of adrenaline and fun, regardless of gender!

Talent and persistence that push the boundaries

As we pointed out earlier, men dominate the world of jet skis, but women are slowly and surely achieving enviable results and attracting attention with their daring. One of them is Valentina Lezcano, a professional jet ski athlete, an American with Argentinian roots, who competes as a member of the USA Miami Jetski Race Team. She won her first title in 2018, and in the following years, she confirmed her form by winning world titles as well as the title of champion!

Valentina is a person for whom jet ski competitions came as a natural sequence of events. Namely, her family owns a jet ski and boat shop, which is why, as she says, she became interested in PWCs and everything related to them from a young age. But Valentina is not the only competitor in the family, because her brother, Juan Lezcano, is also a very successful professional jet ski athlete.

Lisa Caussin Battaglia is another versatile athlete who has achieved enviable results in her career. This 29-year-old, born in Monaco, in addition to more than successfully riding the waves with jet skis, enjoys motocross, sailing, snowboarding, and rowing in her free time. In the world of jet skis, Lisa achieved her first big results in 2016, when she became the French Championship Slalom Vice Champion. In the same year, she took 3rd place at the French Championship and 9th place at the Aquabike World Championship.

Some of Lisa’s more notable results are:

  • 2017 - 8th UIM World Championship
  • 2018 - 10th UIM World Championship
  • 2019 - 7th UIM World Championship
  • 2020 - 4th UIM World Championship
  • 2020 - 5th UIM European Championship

Jasmin Üpraus, the youngest of the aforementioned competitors, was born in Estonia in 2000 and has an enviable career behind her. She fell in love with jet skis from an early age, thanks to her father, who is now her coach and mechanic. She achieved her first professional success in 2017 when she became the champion of the Estonian and Nordic Championship in the Ski Ladies GP1 class. Thanks to this result, she got the opportunity to debut at the world championship in 2018. After that, her ascent in the jet ski world began. From 2018 to 2022, she won 5 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze medals. What is also interesting is the fact that Jasmin, just like Valentina, also comes from a sports family. Her father, Egon Üpraus, competed in motocross, enduro, snowmobile racing, and jet sports in his youth, and won awards both in world competitions and in competitions in his homeland. Part of this team as a mechanic is Ralf Üpraus, Jasmin’s twin brother - a family that lives adrenaline to the fullest.

All that’s left is to add to it - we look forward to seeing new achievements and pushing the boundaries of women competing in jet ski racing!
